Psychometrics & reasoning
Airline selection can test more than technical knowledge. Practise the cognitive, reasoning and aptitude skills available in ClearATPL’s training suite before assessment day.
Independent practice. No official provider replicas.
What you’re preparing for
Aptitude and psychometric stages can examine how accurately you recognise patterns, hold information, divide attention and reason under time pressure. The exact combination depends on the selection process.
Work through rules, sequences, matrices and deductions without relying on memorised technical facts.
Interpret quantitative information, numerical progressions and written statements accurately.
Read orientation cues, visualise 3D relationships and reason from changing viewpoints.
Hold flight-related values in mind, then reproduce them while the exercise continues.
Monitor changing information, prioritise actions and manage more than one demand at a time.
Practise the keyboard-based tracking and coordination exercises available inside ClearATPL.
01 / Train the skills
ClearATPL turns broad preparation goals into focused sessions. Learn the task, practise its logic, repeat it and use the result to choose what comes next.
Read the task instructions and know which skill the exercise asks you to use.
Work through focused reasoning and cognitive exercises inside the relevant module.
Return to the task so the format feels familiar and your approach becomes more consistent.
Use results and, where provided, question review to decide what needs another session.
02 / Understand the assessment landscape
Airlines and training organisations can configure selection batteries around a role, experience level and recruitment stage. A provider name alone does not tell you every task you will receive.
Providers such as Aon / cut-e and COMPASS may assess different combinations of reasoning, attention, memory, spatial ability, numerical skills or psychomotor performance. ClearATPL independently trains only the cognitive, reasoning and on-screen practice areas available in its own suite.
An important distinction
Psychometric assessment can cover cognitive ability, aptitude or behavioural measures. Psychomotor tasks add a physical response component, such as coordination, tracking, reaction or specialist device input.
ClearATPL includes its own keyboard-based tracking and coordination exercises. It does not claim to reproduce specialist joystick, rudder-pedal or other hardware-based assessment systems.
Provider context
cut-e became part of Aon in 2017, but both names still appear in recruitment discussions. The assessment content selected by an airline can vary, so start with the invitation and any official familiarisation material you receive.
Use ClearATPL for relevant reasoning or cognitive areas that overlap with its own modules—not as an Aon simulator, official preparation product or source of real cut-e questions.
Provider context
COMPASS is a separate pilot-selection system, and the modules used can differ between organisations and candidate profiles. Confirm the configuration before deciding what to practise.
ClearATPL can support overlapping reasoning, memory, spatial and task-management preparation within its own suite. Specialist psychomotor or hardware elements may require other preparation tools.
ClearATPL is an independent preparation platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Aon plc, COMPASS International B.V., or other assessment providers mentioned on this page. 03 / Practice areas
These are the current module names in the ClearATPL product. Each public hub explains the available exercises before you enter an individual practice area.
Timed cognitive, memory, orientation, multitasking and on-screen coordination exercises, each with its own task instructions and end-of-session result.
Explore Psychometric TrainingOriginal ClearATPL practice across logical, abstract, spatial, mechanical, numerical and verbal reasoning. Question formats and result review vary by area.

04 / Prepare with purpose
A useful plan starts with the assessment you were invited to—not a generic list of every test used in aviation.
Use the airline or recruiter’s invitation to identify the provider, stages and any equipment requirements.
Separate reasoning, memory, attention, coordination and interview requirements before choosing what to practise.
Short, regular sessions make it easier to compare your approach across repeated attempts.
Practise under the built-in timer where a ClearATPL exercise is designed to be timed.
Use your results to decide whether the next session should focus on accuracy, pace or task familiarity.
Combine cognitive practice with technical revision and structured interview preparation.

Pilot psychometric test preparation FAQ
Airlines choose different assessment providers and test batteries. Depending on the role and recruitment process, a battery may include reasoning, attention, memory, spatial, numerical, verbal, personality or psychomotor tasks. Check the invitation for the assessment you will actually take.
First identify the provider and skills named in your invitation. Then practise the overlapping skills consistently, learn the instructions before starting, use realistic time pressure where relevant and review which tasks still reduce your accuracy or pace.
The mix varies, but selection batteries may assess logical, numerical, verbal, abstract or spatial reasoning. ClearATPL provides its own exercises across those areas, including deductions, patterns, matrices, numerical interpretation, verbal evaluation and 3D reasoning.
Psychometric is a broad term for measuring cognitive abilities, aptitudes or behavioural traits. Psychomotor tasks specifically combine mental processing with physical responses such as tracking or hand-eye-foot coordination. Some assessments use both, and specialist hardware-based tasks may require different preparation tools.
cut-e became part of Aon in 2017, and both names are still encountered in recruitment contexts. Aon assessment batteries can combine different online ability or aptitude measures, so candidates should confirm the exact tests selected by their airline or recruiter.
COMPASS is a separate pilot-selection assessment system. Its configuration can vary and may include cognitive, aptitude, task-management or coordination components, depending on the organisation and candidate profile.
No. ClearATPL is independent, is not affiliated with Aon or COMPASS, and does not provide official tests, proprietary questions or replicas of their assessment systems.
ClearATPL can help you practise the reasoning and cognitive areas that overlap with modules in its own suite. It does not replace provider instructions, official familiarisation material or specialist hardware preparation.
It is one preparation stream. Airline selection can also involve technical knowledge, HR or competency interviews, group exercises and simulator stages, so your plan should cover the complete process described by the recruiter.
